The VI Interclub (Nanaimo, Nov. 16-18, 2012) and the BC/YT Sectional Competition (Parksville, Nov.8 – 11. 2012) are currently being organized and accolades go out to the island clubs who will be hosting these events. It is a credit to all our VI Region clubs for stepping up and running skating events on the island. Please encourage your executives to make that big leap and propose to host other region or sectional events in future seasons.
Best Wishes to all our VI Region skaters who will be competing at these Championships and best of luck to those who are moving on to the Challenge events in Regina, December 5 -8, 2012 and Canadians in Mississauga, Ontario in January. Good Luck to you all!
VI officials have been busy either accounting, judging, refereeing, tech. specializing or controlling at many of the qualifying events. Congratulations to those of you who have received promotions during the Spring and Summer and will be joining the panels during the upcoming season. The Fall update clinic, with a new online twist this year, was well received and has set the stage for future online education. The www.skatinginbc.com website continues to be an excellent resource for new communications, rule changes, officials’ documents and competition information.
Please remember to encourage any skaters who are interested in becoming judges to contact Judy Burwash for more information on official training in your areas.
Until the next report……. yours in skating, Susan Morriss
